As I'm doing manual testing,I'll talk about automatical test and manual test today.Apparently,they are opposite.They all have advantages and disadvantages.
It is obvious that manual test depends on tester execute test case step by step.I think there isn't high demand for the skill of tester.But the important thing is tester who charge for this part must more careful and responsible than other testers. Another thing is have keen feeling of exceptions.Last thing is we need comparing expected result with actual result whether they are same.If they are not same,we should write comments on test report to describe the errors.And manual test is apply to the beginning of testing at which cost isn't very much.
On the other hand,automatical test is different.Its advantage,firstly,is repeatable.It can verify whether same function on different platform can
produce same result.Secondly,the advancement of speeding and rates is another good point.Therefore,it is fit for tiring test (I don't know the exactly expression,if somebody know it please tell me.) or stress test.However,it has some shortcomes.It takes much more human resources and time to develop the test script.If we have not a good test script,the best tool is waste.Another thing is that this way isn't flexible,as it is finalized before testing.This is also a different part with manual test.
If we compare them depend on the cost and test times.We can find that only times arrive certain level,automatical test can gain some effect.So,I think we need to notice when and under what condition they are fit.I think there are some criterions like the extent of maturation,the cycle of software,the quantity of data,the output type of software.Base on these this point,we choose related way.
