There are always some standard steps I take after a Microsoft Windows 7 installation for a development machine.

Gpedit.msc	Disable System Restore	Administrative Templates > System > System Restore > Turn off System Restore set to enabled Start > cmd > gpupdate /force (Because I use snapshots and backups I don't need system restore)
Control Panel	Change computer name	System> Advanced system settings > Computer Name > Change…
Computer Management	Use Administrator account	- Local Users and Groups > User > Right Click Administrator > Set Password… > Proceed - Local Users and Groups > User > Right Click Administrator > Properties > Uncheck "Account is disabled" and Check "Password never expires" - Log in as Administrator and delete all other accounts
Control Panel	Change Product key – Activate Windows	System > Change Product key
Windows Update	Update Microsoft Windows 7 until there are no more updates	- Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates
General	Install Drivers	Download drivers
Start Menu	Show "Computer" shortcut on desktop	Start > Computer > Right click > Show on desktop
Start Menu	Don't Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu	Right click Start > Properties > Start Menu > Uncheck "Don't Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu"
Start Menu	Show System administrative tools on start menu	Right click Start > Properties > Start Menu > Customize… > System administrative tools  > Check "Display on the All Programs Menu an d the Start menu"

Control Panel	Set system formats to Dutch	Region and Language > Formats > Format: Dutch

Control Panel	Set gigabit connection as default connection	Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Press alt > Tools > Advanced > Advanced Settings… > Move LAN connection to top of the list.
Control Panel	Disable IPv6	For all network adapters: Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Right click adapter > Uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)"
Control Panel	Create Windows Credentials for sites	For all sites / network addresses, create windows credentials: User Accounts > Manage your credentials > Add a Windows credential
Control Panel	Enable Aero	First enable Themes service: Services.msc > Themes > Properties > Startup type: Automatic Reboot Personalization > Aero theme
Direct X	Install Direct X for use in Windows Media Center en Games
Gpedit.msc	Disable automatic reboot after windows update	Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > "No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates Installations" set to enabled

Gpedit.msc	Always use classic logon	Administrative Templates > System > Logon > set "Always use classic logon" to Enabled
Gpedit.msc	Disable CTRL + ALT + DEL after sleep	Administrative Templates > System > Power Management > Sleep Settings > "Require a Password When a Computer Wakes (Plugged In)" set to Disabled - "Require a Password When a Computer Wakes (On Battery)" set to Disabled
Gpedit.msc	Disable shutdown tracker	Administrative Templates > System > "Display Shutdown Event Tracker" set to Disabled
Server Manager	Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration	Configure IE ESC
Server Manager	Add Windows Desktop Search	Roles > Files Services > Add Role Services > Windows Search Engine
Local Security Policy	Allow system to be shut down without having to log on	Local Policies > Security Options > "Shutdown: Allow system to be shut down without having to log on" set to enabled
Local Security Policy	Disable password expiration	Account Policy > Password Policy > "Maximum Password Age" set to 0
Internet Explorer	Disable Favorites bar
Internet Explorer	Use Google as default search provider and use search suggestions from this search provider
Internet Explorer	"Make Google my only home page"
