Data Warehouse

Definition:

1.Subject Oriented

   -why?

   -because it provides us the information around a subject rather than organization's ongoing operations.These subjects can be product,

    customers,suppliers,sales,revenue etc.

2.Intergrated

   -why?

   -because it is constructed by intergration of data from heterogeneous relational databases,flat files etc.This integration enhances the

    effective analysis of data.

3.Time-Variant

   -why?

    -because data in it is identified with a particular time period.

4.Non volatile

   -why?

   -Non volatile means that the previous data is not removed when new data is added to it.That means changes in operational database

    are not reflected in data warehouse.

Data Warehouse is 1,2,3,4 collection of data that support management's decision making process.
