We often hear the people say: I love my hometown; I love him; I love her; more often than not, “I love you!” but we seldom hear the people clearly state that they love themselves, for self-love is usually regarded as selfish, self-centered, or narcissistic.
Self-love needs some courage. You dare accept yourself, your merits and defects; you dare face yourself, your glorious image, your lonely shadow. Winning, you realize you have a long way to go; defeated, you know you are still one of the best. God creates you for some special reason, and you have your great mission in life.
Self-love needs some skills. You know how to love yourself without losing or spoiling yourself. On one hand, you should take a good care of yourself, paying attention to your health, your study, and your career; on the other hand, you should take others’ response into consideration, never going too far, in order to avoid self-isolation.
Self-love needs a partner. Love, in nature, is to give. The purpose of self-love is, in a long run, to give as well. What is the use of self-love without sharing it with someone you love, someone who’s worth your love? If you can’t love yourself, how can you love the other? No one will love you if you don’t love yourself.
Even if no one under the heaven loves you, you definitely get love from someone---Yourself.
