Kemba Walker wandered the aisles of Dick's Sporting Goods and helped kids from his basketball camp as they struggled to pare down options in a store stocked withsports items. TheCharlotte Hornets point guard was there to provideselect campers with a shopping spree of $100 each. More often than not, though, he was talking with store patrons seeking an autograph or photo. They played against one another before college, back when Walker was a star at Rice High School and Stephenson led Lincoln High School."I've known him for a long time, playing against him, he always beat my team," Walker said with a smile. "So I guess the saying, if you can't be them, join them."Prior to joining Walker and Hornets, Stephenson made a name for himselfwith his on-court antics. He blew in LeBron James' ear when his former team, the Indiana Pacers, faced off with the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.Nothing Stephenson does surprises Walker, who said,"The way he plays now, he's been playing that way for years.""But he does have fun," Walker said."Everyone talks about his antics and things like that he does on the court. He's a great dude. He's a great dude off the court, and he'll be a great fit."For Walker, that will likely mean more time off the ball. Withforward Josh McRoberts gone, Walker and Stephenson will take over the majority of Charlotte's ballhandling duties."He's great in pick-and-roll situations, he can make every pass coming off the scree and roll, " Walker said of Stephenson. "All Igottado is make shots now. He has that ability to make everyone around him better. And I'm looking forward to it."
