If you use your Amazon Echo to add things to your shopping list, but aren’t near your Echo, there are other ways to add items to the list besides just using your voice.

The great thing about Amazon’s ecosystem is that most everything that’s stored on your Echo is also stored in the cloud and synced with other devices and services. So your shopping list isn’t just on your Echo, but it’s also on your phone and on the web. Here are all the different ways that you can add things to your Alexa shopping list.

This is perhaps the easiest and most straightforward  way of adding things to your shopping list on your Amazon Echo. All you have to do is say “Alexa, add (item) to my shopping list.”

Update: In September 2018, Amazon added the ability to add multiple things to your shopping list at once using your voice. You can now say something like “Alexa, add eggs, milk, and butter to my shopping list” to have it add all those things at once as separate items on the list.

If you’d rather not mess with third-party apps for controlling your Echo from afar, you can still add anything to your shopping list by using the Alexa app on your phone.

Simply just open the app and start by tapping on the menu button in the top-left corner of the screen.

After that, go back to the home page and hover over “Lists” in the upper-right corner of the window.
