Fibre Channel的端口有三种基本端口：N_Port、F_Prot和E_port，在向这些端口添加仲裁环能力时，它们使用混合名称NL_port、FL_port和G_port。下面一一说明：

N_port（节点端口）：it is a node port,or a port on a disk or computer, if a port is only an N_port (and not an NL_port),it can communicate only with another N_port on a second node or to an F_port on a switch.

F_port（光线端口）：it is a fabric port,which is found only on a switch. If a port is only an F_port (and not an FL_Port),it can connect only to another N_port via a point-to-point connection.

L_port（仲裁环端口，但一般不独立存在）：An L_Port implies it can participate in an arbitrated loop.（仲裁环）.If a port was only an L_Port, it could connect only to arbitrated loops,but ports that are exclusively L_Ports don't exist .The L is added to the end of an N_Port or F_Port to create an NL_Port and FL_Port.

NL_Port（带有仲裁环能力的节点端口）：A node port with arbitrated loop capabilites ; that is ,a port on a node that can connect to another node ,to a switch (see N_Port) or to an arbitrated loop(see L_Port).

FL_Port（带有仲裁环能力的光纤端口）：A fabric port with arbitrated loop capabilites; that is ,a port on a switch that can connect to a node (see F_Port) or an arbitrated loop.

E_Port （交换机上的扩展端口）：An E_Port is an expansion port on a switch that connects one switch to other switchs via their E_ports to from a large fabric.

G_Port（交换机上的通用端口）：it is a generic port on a switch that can act  as an E_Port ,an FL_Port,or an F_port,depending on what conncects to it.
