Linux Kernel Version 2.4 Watchdog Setting Guide

1. compile watchdog driver
- cd drv-2.4
- modify following of ../Rules.make if needed
KERNELDIR = /usr/src/linux-2.4
- make
2. insert watchdog module and set timeout to 10 seconds
- insmod wdt.o timeout=10
3. install watchdog daemon
- cd ../utils
- ./watchdogd
4. panic the system, and check the system will reboot after 10 seconds
- cd ../panic
- make -f Makefile-2.4
- insmod panic.o

1. compile driver
- Kernel 2.6 has watchdog driver
2. insert module and set watchdog timeout to 10 seconds
- insmod /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-686/kernel/drivers/char/watchdog/w83627hf_wdt.ko timeout=10
3. install watchdog daemon
- cd utils
- ./watchdogd
4. panic the system, and check the system will reboot after 10 seconds
- cd ../panic
- make
- insmod panic.ko
