什么是你对一位成功科学家的定义？该定义在你的导师和你自己之间有怎样的变化？本人的回答是：

    一位成功的科学家是那种能够发现其所在领域最有价值问题的探索者，当然，如果再是那种可以发现解决该问题的很好策略或解决该问题的很好方案,设计蓝图并且可以引领更多的其他研究者追随其发展的领导者或学术带头人，那就是更好的了。

    这与我在不同阶段的多位导师的观点都不同，他们有的注重解决问题的能力，如：信息或通信专业导师欣赏我具有熟练地“跑通交直流电路”的本领，他们有的注重消化传承经典的能力，如：语言或英文专业导师欣赏我具有熟练地“背诵经典课文”的本领，他们有的注重消化传承与开拓创新的能力，如：语言或中文专业导师欣赏我具有对汉语“字本位”理论的独到理解以及基于“言本位”的汉语形式化处理技术特长，他们有的注重消化传承经典基础上开拓创新的能力，如：科学哲学、语言哲学乃至心智哲学与社会哲学以及高等教育哲学的导师们则欣赏我具有关于高深知识的宏观基础理论划分（伴随相应的微观术语细分知识本体数据库建构）的本领，其中，每阶段自己都试图用亲身的实践和思考来补充学习和继承的观点及方法的不足，进而，践行当时自认为最有效的道路。

        A successful scientist can be defined as an explorer who can discover the most valuable problems in his own field. It would make him or her more successful if he or she can also be a leader or an academic lead that develop favorable strategies and excellent solutions to the problems he or she has discovered, design blueprints and lead more researchers to follow his discoveries and developments. 

       This is my own definition and it is quite different from several mentors of mine in different fields. Some of them focus on problem-solving abilities, such as the mentor of my first major “Information and Communication Engineering” who appreciate my proficient skills on "running circuit " for distinguishing the Alternating Current and Direct Current; others stress on the abilities to digest and inherit the classics, such as the mentor of my second major “English Language and Literature” who appreciate my ability to skillfully "recite the classic text";  others emphasize the innovative abilities such as my mentors on “Linguistics” and “Chinese Linguistics” who appreciate my original understanding on "Zi-based" theory of Chinese Linguistics and formal language processing technological expertise based on“Yan-based”theory of Linguistics developed by myself and others pay attention to critical thinking and rational reflection such as my mentors on philosophy who appreciate my thought on the basic and macro theoretical division towards profound knowledge of human beings with the corresponding micro knowledge ontology database construction.
