ORACLE.EXE (SHAD)

Hi,

Anybody know what this process mean and what does this do?

Select * from v$process gave me this program.

I am running 10.2.0.1.0 on windows 2003 server.

ORACLE.EXE (SHAD)


I couldn't find the documentation for this process.

  It's oracle shadow process, whenever user is trying to connect to oracle server oracle will start a shadow process on server side.

  Should the number of shadow processes I see in v$process view mean I have that many sessions connected to server?

  Can you point me to some kind of documentation which explains me about the shadow process. Again I am on 10.2.0.1.0 and Windows Server 2003.

  ORACLE.EXE is the main executable on Windows, one ORACLE.EXE is started per instance. All background processes (like smon,pmon, ...) run as threads inside this main process. The process is not releated to a particular user or session, it's a global process. You find more information here:
