经常会被人问到，BI与BW的区别，为什么3.0前是BW，后面叫BI了。
常常回答：因为有了SEM。
不过，后来看到一句话：You should start thinking of the product as “SAP BI” and try
to use the term “SAP BW” only when you are referring to a specific release, such
as SAP BW 3.1 Content or SAP BW 3.5. It’s going to be a tough adjustment, but if
you start now, it will be easier when the “SAP BW” term goes away completely!

到了7.0就叫做BI7。0了，而不在沿用原来的叫法了。

这是trademark注册的问题 SAP原来是想用BW的，后来一段时间后发现不行，officially 用了BIW, BW是习惯的说法。当SAP把所有概念都包装到netweaver之中后，就开始叫SAP Netweaver BI了，属于 “Information Integration”层 p.s. 在德文中 BW经常用来表示" 德国联邦武装部队" 的意思... lol
