The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)

The Dementia Imaging Genetics (DIG) lab at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) has a postdoctoral position in neuroimaging research of neurodegenerative diseases. The fellow will work closely with the PI, Dr. Suzee Lee, to develop novel imaging approaches to neurodegenerative diseases, including frontotemporal dementia, primary progressive aphasia, corticobasal syndrome, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The UCSF Memory and Aging Center is the largest cognitive and behavioral neurology center in the United States and has extensively recruited research participants for two decades. Neuroimaging research will integrate our rich, multidisciplinary datasets to study the clinical, anatomical, and neuropathological correlates of disease.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in neuroimaging and interests in applying neuroimaging techniques (such as fMRI/DTI) to clinical populations. The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to ongoing experiments and pursue self-directed projects within the lab’s area of investigation.

The DIG Lab at UCSF studies brain networks in patients with genetic neurodegenerative disorders and their presymptomatic family members by developing and applying novel multimodal functional and structural neuroimaging methods, including task-free fMRI and DTI.  Research recruitment is supported by an extensive network of collaborative research projects at the UCSF Memory and Aging center, and large datasets of archived functional and structural MRI data are available for analysis.  The DIG Lab is highly integrated with several other neuroimaging labs at UCSF (Seeley, Gorno Tempini labs for example), which provides a rich scientific and collaborative community. We are looking for creative, motivated, fun people to help improve the lives of our patients and families.

University of Bath

https://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/BXV847/research-associate-fixed-term

Department of p at the University of Bath is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on a 4-year MRC funded study, examining the longitudinal pathways via which trauma exposure influences child mental health.

The project will capitalize on a unique South African birth cohort, the Drakenstein Child Health Study, which focuses on children growing up in conditions of significant adversity. You will utilize rich existing psycho-biological data, including longitudinal neuroimaging data, to address key questions in the child trauma field; and will also support the next wave of data collection (at age 8 years) by the team based at the University of Cape Town. The project provides a unique opportunity to study the effects of child trauma exposure in a low and middle-income country, in which child trauma exposure is comparatively common, but has been less well studied compared to high-income contexts.

You should have a strong background in clinical and/or developmental psychology or neuroscience and should have, or be about to receive, a Ph.D. in this area. Essential criteria include the ability to work independently and to collaborate with other team members, as well as excellent quantitative data analysis, communication and writing skills.  You must be willing and able to travel to South Africa. Prior experience of analyzing neuroimaging or other psychobiological (e.g., neuroendocrine) data is highly desirable.

The proposed start date of this 3-year fixed-term post is 20th April 2020, or shortly thereafter.
