Goal
You want to use the RMAN duplicate command to create a duplicate database. How do you obtain the correct SCN/time value to use in the SET UNTIL command?
Solution
The sql commands to accomplish this are as follows:
sql> select max(sequence#)
from v$log_history
where RESETLOGS_TIME =
(select max(resetlogs_time)
from v$log_history);
Use the results in your set until clause. For example
set until logseq = xxxxx;
You may also obtain the SCN from v$archived_log as follows:
sql> select first_change#, next_change# from v$archived_log where sequence#=<results from
query on v$log_history above>;
The stop value would be next_change# column.
