Install GNUPG on Debian

1. Use apt-get install gnupg to install the program. However, when I try this on the server, it said that file not found(the http address is not valid). So I have to download and install it manually.
Maybe I should try apt-get update to update the packages.

2.  Download GNUPG.
        #lynx http://www.gnupg.org
Select a mirror and select the latest stable release and type "d" to download the file to local.
 
3. Extract the files
    #tar xvzf gnupg-1.4.5.tar.gz
4. Configure
    #cd gnupg-1.4.5
    #./configure
When configuring it for compilation, error occurrs said that no c/c++ compiler found.
So I have to install gcc.

5. Install GCC
    #apt-get install gcc

6. Configure it again.
This time, the error says c compiler can't create executables. Faint.
Search the error in Google, someone shows the following solution:

I think  apt-get install libc6-dev  should fix the problem.

No, it wont.

apt-get install build-essential
and
apt-get install kernel-package

then it will work. If you install the libc6-dev you will have the c header files, you wont have an assembeler, a linker, or any of the other stuff you will need to actually make an ELF executable.

7.  All right,  after install build-essential and kernel-package, configuration goes successfully.

8. Complie
    #make

9. Install
    #make install
