三、真题范文
话题:出国学习和生活一段时间来学习语言和文化
(背景引入)It is quite common in this day and age that an increasing number of people choose to go abroad for further education.
(题目改写)Whether or not it is wise for students to experience overseas life to learn the language and culture of the host country has ignited a heated debate.
(观点立场)To the best of my knowledge,I tend to believe that this is a reasonable decision, and this essay will analyse the reasons in the subsequent paragraphs.
To begin with, having first-hand exposure to the local language is a better way to learn it.Due to the fact that the foreign environment can provide students with an immersive (沉浸的,身临其境的)learning experience, which means all the people in this environment have to use the target language in their daily communication. In other words, this daily communicative situation will force the students to use the local language more frequently, thus contributed to the improvement of their linguistic acquisition/language learning. On the contrary, the truth is,no matter how much students excellent in foreign language courses, they do not master the language completely. For example, there are never enough English native speakers in schools to provide a real English speaking community, which may result in students knowing English very well in terms of grammar or reading, but speaking and listening are big obstacles for them.
Furthermore, studying and living in a foreign nation is very advantageous to experience a different culture and form a more critical/objective judgement about the local culture. This is because students studying and living abroad have the opportunity to engage in various activities and directly contact with the local residents. Therefore, they are more likely to have more authentic and thorough understanding of the outside world than those students who do not have these experiences. In contrast, without actually experiencing local cultures in person, students who learn the cultural values of foreign countries from books and media are very easy to get misled into stereotyping.Besides, students who have studied and lived abroad also tend to have more open minds to differences in culture and so become more tolerant to other groups of people.
For my part, after considering all the arguments presented,I insist that living in another country for educational purposes is beneficial to students’ language and cultural learning.
