Beyond a critical Reynolds number,
the steady film becomes unstable, and traveling waves are generated.
These waves continuously evolve and are susceptible to various
secondary instabilities, such as sideband, subharmonic, and transverse
instabilities.11
The onset of the
pattern was independent of the corrugation steepness. The critical
Reynolds number was about 130–380 and decreased with higher inclination
angle.41
