Installing Oracle 11g On Ubuntu 8.04 LTS

The only problem is can't open X program in remote host, and the solve instruction is:

1. Edit /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc:
Remove the "-nolisten tcp"
2. Edit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf:
Change the "DisallowTCP=true" to "DisallowTCP=false" so that it doesn't add the -nolisten back.
3. Really restart X
The easiest way is to probably kill gdm and then restart it from a text login:
/etc/init.d/gdm stop
At a text login:
/etc/init.d/gdm start

To test the xhost
in the local host:
$xhost +remote_ip #add the remote host to your local xserver
$xhost #see which host you added
$ssh user@remote_ip #log on the remote host
$export DISPLAY=local_ip:0.0 #where to display the x program
$xclock #test if it work
example:
$ xhost +10.82.81.44
10.82.81.44 being added to access control list
$ xhost
access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect
INET:10.82.81.44 (no nameserver response within 5 seconds)
$ssh apollo@10.82.81.44

apollo@10.82.81.44's password:
$ export DISPLAY=10.82.14.9:0.0
$ xclock
