This is the note for reading Chapter 4 to 7: Intersection acceleration, Color & Radiometry, Camera Models and Sampling & Reconstruction.
Chapter 4 and 5 (Intersection acceleration, Color & Radiometry) actually don’t bring anything seminal except some common knowledges, as kd-tree, radiometry etc.
Chapter 6 (Camera Models) introduces the modeling of lens that enables the “depth of field” feature in images, besides the common knowledge on orthogonal/perspective projections.
Chapter 7 (Sampling & Reconstruction) is very informative and helpful. The authors not only introduce the basic sampling/reconstruction theories, several interesting sampling/reconstruction techniques are also introduced. I learnt a lot from this chapter. Before this I never realized that sampling/reconstruction can take such a key effect in the final images. Many practical and useful hints for sampling/reconstruction strategies are elaborated, which are very useful for practical projects. The background for this chapter is Signal Processing. It is a big field to dig…
