Daily | Ubuntu Environment Configure - Pingyin & Cuda10.1

Backup the apt sources and alter to aliyun

1.1 back up

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.bak

1.2 overwrite the content

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

• the aliyun sources as follows: [NOTE] the word “bionic” in the aliyun sources means Ubuntu 18.04

1.3 update

sudo apt-get update 

Ping-yin environment

2.1 install ibus

sudo apt-get install ibus-pinyin

2.2 configure

• system setting -> Region & Language -> Manage installed Languages
• keyboard input method system alter to IBus
• install / Remove Languages…
• reboot
• system setting -> Region & Language -> add input sources

Cuda 10.1

3.1 tips

3.2 install gcc

sudo apt install build-essential

3.3 disable nouveau image drive

sudo vi /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

# append black list to the blacklist.conf file  
blacklist vga16fb
blacklist nouveau
blacklist rivafb
blacklist rivatv
blacklist nvidiafb

# update
sudo update-initramfs -u

# reboot
sudo reboot

# check if the nouveau is disabled
lsmod | grep nouveau

# enter tty (ctrl+alt+f3), and stop lightdm service
sudo service lightdm stop

3.4 remove the installed cuda

sudo apt-get --purge remove nvidia-*

3.5 install cuda

Google chrome

wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
