If you get some db related errors in Portal Server, it is always useful to test the connection to Portal Server Database wpsdb to ensure DB works fine. Here is what you should do:
Assume the portal server and its db are installed on the same linux box, and you work on a window machine to get access to this linux server.
1. Using Putty to login as the DB2 administrator, normally, wpdb2ins, password is the same as the Portal Administrator you give during installation.
2. run db2 db2start if the db is not started
3. To start the db admin console: go to the bin folder, run db2cc
( you have to use the Xwindow:
open the xwindow,
run xhost +,
then ssh –x wpdb2ins@xxx // xxx is the hostname of portal server
set display variable: export DISPLAY=”xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0” where the xxx is the computer ip where the graphic will be displayed, in this case , it is your window machine
go to db2 bin folder, run db2cc )
4. Or you could run db
5. test the connection to db, run the command:
connect to wpsdb user wpdb2ins using XXX // XXX is the password of DB2 administrator wpdb2ins
