The 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards has just concluded. Leonardo DiCaprio won Best Actor and the cast of ‘Spotlight’ received the night’s top honor, Best Ensemble in a Film. 

Supporting acting awards at the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards went to Idris Elba and Alicia Vikander, where Netflix’s ‘Orange Is the New Black’ again won the award for Best Ensemble in a Television Comedy Series. Uzo Aduba accepted her second straight SAG Award for Best Actress in a Comedy for ‘Orange Is the New Black.’

Best actor for the role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards went to Leonardo DiCaprio. The Oscar-nominated star and environmentalist spoke backstage about facing brutal, unpredictable weather while filming "The Revenant" and a passion project about climate change at the same time.

"I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the actors at home. No matter if anyone tells you get out of that line you’re waiting in, stay in line. You have the chance. It is yours,” said Aduba.

Best actor in a TV comedy went to Jeffery Tambor for the acclaimed Amazon series ‘Transparent.’

"I play Mora, she’s very entitled, she has a lot of money,” said Tambot.

Best Actor went to DiCaprio. The Oscar-nominated star and environmentalist spoke backstage about facing brutal, unpredictable weather while filming ‘The Revenant’ and a passion project about climate change at the same time.

"It was very eye-opening. I was simultaneously doing a movie about climate change, a documentary I’ve been filming all over the world, from Greenland to China to India. We are in the process of changing our climate for tens of thousands, if not millions, of years at this very moment,” DiCaprio said.

"So this is a very significant turning point for me to witness it first-hand while doing this movie and simultaneously doing the documentary and it's absolutely terrifying.” 

The night’s top honor, Best Ensemble in a Film, went to the newspaper drama ‘Spotlight.’ It provided some badly-needed momentum for the critically-acclaimed film.

Actors make up the largest branch of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which is why the SAG Awards are a closely watched harbinger of the Oscars. SAG winners the last three years have exactly corresponded with Oscar winners.
