2. focus on the worst cases.
3. ignore small inputs 2N +1 ——> 2N
4. ignore constant scaling factors : 2N -> N

Once we’ve chosen a cost model:
we can use intuition to find the order of growth of the number of operations.

Big Theta is equivalent to order of growth.
