Sometimes referred to as “testing” data, a holdout subset provides a
final estimate of the machine learning model’s performance after it
has been trained and validated. Holdout sets should never be used to
make decisions about which algorithms to use or for improving or
tuning algorithms.

holdout 有时被称为“测试”数据，holdout 子集在机器学习模型经过训练和验证后，提供对其性能的最终估计。决不能使用holdout子集来决定使用哪种算法，或改进或调整算法。
