With the version 10.4.9, the proxy workflow has been improved significantly. After importing your file, now while creating a proxy media version of your file you will have two new options in the transcode section. An ability to choose codec and frame sizes for your proxy media before importing.

Creating a new proxy only library has never been easier. For creating all you need to do is select your preferred events and from the file option, copy the event to the library and save. Final Cut Pro finally has a ‘duplicate project as’ option to save your project with more than one format and resolutions.
