maven的插件来创建一个maven工程的时候报错

今天使用maven的插件来创建一个maven工程的时候报错，主要错误如下：
Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.0.1:generate (default-cli) on project chapter1: Unable to add module to the current project as it is not of packaging type 'pom' -> [Help 1] org.apache.maven.lifecycle.LifecycleExecutionException: Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.0.1:generate (default-cli) on project chapter1: Unable to add module to the current project as it is not of packaging type 'pom'
主要的意思就是这句：

Unable to add module to the current project as it is  not of packaging type 'pom'

经过搜索引擎查找，发现错误的原因是我运行mvn命令的目录下面存在一个pom.xml文件，删除之即可。
