Unit1: Present continuous

• She is driving to work

A. This means: she is driving now, at the time of speaking. The action is not finished.

• Tom: I'm reading an interesting book at the moment. IT leand it to you when I've finished it.
• Catherine wants to work in Italy, so she is learning Italian.

B. This means: I'm in the middle of doing something; I've started doing it and I haven't finished yet.

C. 我们有时候用present continuous 当我们谈到这一段时间发生的事情时。 when we talk about things happending in a period around now.

• 'you're working hard todyay.' 'yes, I have a lot to do.'
• "is Susan working this week?"

D. 我们用 Present Continuous， 当我们谈论最近发生的变化时。

• The population of the world is rising very fast.
• is your English getting better?

• I am looking for Christine. do you know where she is?
• It's getting dark, Shall I turn on the light?
• They haven't got anywhere to live at the moment. They are staying with friends until they find somewhere.
