Where is shut down that at the start of any turnoff-say, at A1-C1
must have no charge on it. At the end of the turnoff(at B),C1 has slowed
up
the

time
but
has
accumulated
a
voltage

next
(neglecting for the moment the leakage inductance spike).
At the start of the next turnoff at A2,C1 must again have no voltage
acrossit .Thus , at some time between B and A2,C1 must be discharge . It
is discharged interval C to A2 by resistor R1.When Q1 turns on at C, the
top end of C1 goes immediately to ground and C1 discharges though Q1
and R1.
Thus , once C1 has been selected large enough to yield a sufficiently

raise

is
chosen
to
discharge
