This paper was written from notes taken during 1977, and therefore should be read considering that timeframe. International Business Machines' (IBM) confrontations with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over antitrust violations has spanned many decades. The purpose of this paper is to outline IBM's history of violations and the action taken by the FTC as of 1977 to bring IBM under control.
