Design of Smart Manufacturing Systems

A PhD scholarship is available at Singapore Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The research focuses on the factory design of smart manufacturing systems. The objective is to find the optimal layout and capacity planning for a low volume high mix reconfigurable production line. Algorithms will be developed through the application of operation research techniques, and a real testbed will be constructed at the end of the project. Potential candidates should have solid training in math, and interested in applying theory to solve practical problems.

The position is part of a larger research program at NTU seeking to realize th
