PGP加密软件被认为是保护电子邮件机密性的最强大、最有效的软件。本文的目的是让读者对PGP软件是什么、PGP软件背后的加密技术、PGP软件是如何工作的，以及如何安装PGP软件进行概述。在理论部分，解释了密码的基本术语和概念，以帮助理解PGP的工作原理。中间部分详细介绍了PGP的功能。它们包括如何实现通信方的身份验证、如何管理和传递密钥、如何加密消息和数据。最后一部分包括屏幕截图和用户指南中关于用户界面中主要图标的安装说明。如今，即使是谷歌这样的公司也不得不为政府提供后门，PGP软件仍然不会让政府监控公民的通信。因此，对PGP的深入了解，有助于用户保护个人隐私。

The PGP encryption software is consideredas the most powerful and effective software to protect the confidentiality ofthe email. The goal of this thesis was to render the reader an overview of whatthe PGP software is, what cryptographic there are behind the PGP software, howthe PGP software works and how it can be installed. In the theoretical part,the basic cryptographic terminologies and concepts were explained to help theunderstanding of the PGP working principles. In the middle part the PGP’sfunctions were explained in detail. They included how the authentication of thecommunicating parties is implemented, how the keys are managed and delivered,how the messages and the data are encrypted. The last section included theinstallation instructions with the screenshots and the user guide about themain icons in the user interface. Today, even the company such as Google has toprovide the back door for the government, the PGP software is still unreachablefor the government to monitor the citizens’ communication. Thus, having astrong understanding of PGP is useful for the users to protect personalprivacy.
