SwitchB、SwitchC和SwitchD位于AS200中，SwitchA位于AS100中。SwitchA和SwitchB共享一个相同的网络段11.0.0.0。而SwitchB和SwitchD彼此物理上不相邻。

则SwitchA的配置如下：

SwitchA(config)#router bgp 100SwitchA(config-router-bgp)#neighbor 11.1.1.2 remote-as 200SwitchA(config-router-bgp)#exit

SwitchB的配置如下：

SwitchB(config)#router bgp 200SwitchB(config-router-bgp)#network 11.0.0.0SwitchB(config-router-bgp)#network 12.0.0.0SwitchB(config-router-bgp)#network 13.0.0.0SwitchB(config-router-bgp)#neighbor 11.1.1.1 remote-as 100SwitchB(config-router-bgp)#neighbor 12.1.1.3 remote-as 200SwitchB(config-router-bgp)#neighbor 13.1.1.4 remote-as 200SwitchB(config-router-bgp)#exit

此时SwitchB和SwitchA之间的连接是EBGP，和SwitchC、SwitchD之间的连接是IBGP。SwitchB和SwitchD之间不必物理上相连就可以进行BGP的连接，但前提是两个交换机必须有到达对方的路由。该路由可以通过静态路由或是IGP获得。
