Virtualbox is a tool which will enable you to run different operating systems virtually on you host operating system. You can easily find some sources (eg. Oracle VM VirtualBox) and install Virtualbox in your laptop.
1. Download the latest version of Ubuntu iso file Enterprise Open Source and Linux | Ubuntu, make sure you download the LTS version, LTS means the long term support version, which will at least run for 2 years.
2. Open your virtualbox, click on the new button, create your new machine:
3. Name your machine,choose the machine folder, the Ubuntu is a Linux system, so choose the type as Linux, version is 64-bit because we download the 64-bit iso file, there is no other option. then click on next:
4. Here in the memory size, provide the memory up to the green mark and click next:
5, Next 3 steps just leave them as default and click next:
6. Choose your file location, which is where you Ubuntu operating system files will be downloaded and installed. then provide your hard disk up to 100GB (as you want), then click create button:
7. Once you clicked the create button, you will see the new Ubuntu operating system:
8. Before click on start, let's change some default settings like below:
9. Go to storage seetings, and click on the empty option, click on choose a disk file and go to the location where you have stored the Ubuntu iso file, and choose that file, and click on OK:
10. Now we can start the new system, now you will see this kind of window here, you will need to choose the language and click on install Ubuntu:
11. and your keyboard layout:
12. check the option like below:
13. this step leave it as default, it's a virtual system, it's not going to erase anything, just click on install now and continue:
14. Choose the location which is near to your time zone, click on continue button:
15. complete your username and password, then continue, the installation of Ubuntu will start:
16. Don't forget to restart your Ubuntu after installation.
