Senet

The Way to Pyramidion™ was designed based on Senet, which may be the earliest board game over the world. The ancient egyptian board game allows two players. It has 30 squares arranged in 3 rows and 5 pieces for each player. All pieces move linear over the board and go up to the next row when they move to the end of a row. The game uses 4 two-sided sticks to decide the movement of the pieces. There are some special squares which set special effects called “House” on the board. All 10 pieces are initially set at the first row at the start of the game and the player whose all pieces have moved out of the board is the winner. The components and rules are modified through Senet but contain some creative elements.

 

Game Story

An Egyptian pyramid expedition was organized by the institute of archaeology. Archaeologist Byron led a group of lively and lovely people to explore the interior of the pyramid. After several days of travel, they finally arrived at the destination of this activity -- Khufu pyramid which is the largest pyramid in Egypt. In front of the pyramid is the sphinx, which is about 20 meters high and 73.2 meters long. The pyramid is the tomb of the pharaohs of ancient Egypt. It is about146 meters high and 230 meters long. The entrance is 14.5 meters above the ground on the north side of the entrance through a long passage to the upper, middle and lower three burial Chambers. The upper tomb was the tomb of the pharaoh, and the middle and lower tomb was the place where the goods were buried. The wise pharaoh was afraid that when he died someone would steal his burial goods and destroy his body, so he set a series of checkpoints inside the pyramid. One day, Byron led his group to this grand pyramids, they will be from the north of pyramid entrance road the secret of the ancient Egyptian pyramid, but what they don't know is that there is another followed by a group of gravedigger. It's a competition between archaeologists and tomb raiders to see who can break through the layers of checkpoints built by the pharaohs to reach the minarets where the pharaoh's coffin and some precious jewels will be.

 

Game components

 

The Way to Pyramidion™ contains the following components:

• Pyramidical board with 100 cells

• 2 six-sided dice (D6)

• 10 pawns (5 for each player)

The background of our game is about archaeologists and gravediggers, so we designed the cute character as follows:

And since the board grid is Triangle, so our pawn looks like this at last:

How to play

The game is played on a triangle board consist of 100 triangles called “Benben stone”.

At the beginning of the game the five pawns per player alternate along with the first 10 triangles. The following is the figure of the chess piece placement.

 

Player allowed: 2 only. (Represent archaeologists and grave robber)

At the beginning of the game the five pawns per player alternate along the 10 first squares.

The starting square is counted as the 15th.

 

Movement:

-When a pawn reached a square already occupied by an opponent's pawn, they have to exchange their positions.

Winning the game

Once all the pieces of a player walk off the board, the player wins.

 

Tutorial

For example:

Pawn: 10 (5 each player)

Dice: 2

 

Firstly, the two players set all the pawns on the first level of the board, which are alternate along with the first 10 triangles. Each player gets 5 pawns.

 

Player-1 roll two dice, and the result is 6 and 5, then he gets a chance to move 7 steps. This player moves the last pawn from stone 10 to stone 17.

 

Player-2 roll two dice, and the result is 3 and 3, then he gets a chance to move up to the next level and plus 1 step. This player moves the third pawn from stone 4 to stone 23 and then moves it from stone 23 to stone stone 24.

 

Player-1 roll two dice, and the result is 6 and 6, then he gets a chance to move 8 steps. This player moves the last pawn from stone 17 to stone 19 since stone 19 is the “Benben stone of Household”. 

 

Player-2 roll two dice, and the result is 1 and 6, then he gets a chance to move 2 steps. This player moves the last pawn from stone 24 to stone 26. And since the stone 26 is the “Benben stone of Return”.

 

Player-1 roll two dice, and the result is 5 and 1, then he gets a chance to move 1 steps. This player moves the last pawn from stone 19 to stone 20, and since stone 20 is the “Benben stone of Stream”, this pawn has to move back to stone 11 which is the “Benben stone of Life” .

 

So on and so forth…
