i believe the major relatived to computer-science offers  courses to database. but if you want to know database deeply, that is not enough.

 

1.select * from sysobjects;

 

this statement will return a dataset which include sth about objects in database such as :

C – computed column D – default F – SQLJ function L – log N – partition condition P – Transact-SQL or SQLJ procedure PR – prepare objects (created by Dynamic SQL) R – rule RI – referential constraint S – system table TR – trigger U – user table V – view XP – extended stored procedure.

 

2.decribe table:

in mysql ,you can use this query to get describition :describe table table_name;

here give some method  in mssql:

1)exec sp_columns table_name
2)sp_help table_name

 

the second method give a clear describition to the table-in my own opinion.
