Since we step into the new century, increasingly sophisticated technology, accelerating advent of modernization as well as explosive information all work together to complicate our modern life. And we have witnessed dramatic and spectacularly changes in each and every aspect of our life, notably the upgrading of athletic techniques and sports devices. Under this circumstance, some impressional people may argue that our government have projected too much on the athletics and neglect the development of arts, In this regard, some state- funded projects should be cut to save the money for art support. Nevertheless, this standpoint suffers from both logical and practical fallacies. In my perspective, governments should put more emphasis on the investments on athletics.
Admittedly, art is the spirit of a nation or a state. It is undisputed that art deserves the attention of not only the government but also the public. However, what I want to discuss is that does the economic support could really contribute to the advancement of arts? As is known to all, several miraculous works are completed when the authors are in severely adversity. It is only when the artists witnessed the pains and sorrows in our life that they could be inspired. In contrast, modern sports contests are never the physical competition of athletes but the comprehensive national strength including the scientific training, advanced equipments and nutrition supply. Every aspect among this is really costly. Therefore, the government should invest more money and vigor on athletics.
Also, more people will be encouraged and benefited if athletics gained the support from governments. Artists are undoubtedly geniuses, and we ordinary person may feel that there is a distance between us or even we might never reach their achievements in our whole life. In this regard, the passion about art could just develop in a small part of gifted people. On the contrary, everybody can enjoy the sports and obtain benefits from it. In any case, a healthy body is the capital of revolution, so the attention paid by governments could lead more people to exercise and have a better life.
Additionally, the investments on athletics could bring a more promising feedback. Taking the soccer as an example, there are billions of people are fanatic to these sports. By holding some tournaments or even Olympic Games in a country, the government could not only get some profits but also show the strength of the state.
In a nutshell, the financial investments on athletics are more crucial than arts and could result in considerably returns, therefore it is reasonable for our governments to put more money in this field. Nevertheless, there are one hundred Hamlet in one thousand people’s eyes, I hope the individuals who hold the opposite opinion could somehow compromise after exposed to this article.
