?userability

1). Usability: the extent to which a product can be used by specified users to achieve specified goals witheffectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction in a specified context of use.

2) Usability: the capability of the software product to be understood, learned, used and attractive to the user, when used under specified conditions.

3) Brian Shackel was one of the first to coin the term usability, which he defined as the “user’s ability to utilise the functionality of a product in practice” (Shackel 1984). How usable a product is, depends on the user, his/her goal with the product, the product properties and the context in which the product is used. Because the usability of a product depends on so many issues, we can’t really speak of the usability of a product. To stress this, the ISO definition of usability states that the usability of a product is the extent to which a product can be used by specified users, to achieve specified goals, with effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction in a specified context of use (ISO 1998).

Wht is UIMS?

UIMS (User Interface Management System) is a concepts structure or model, which offers a level of services for the HCI system design, and implementation. It is beyond the scope of toolbox.

Please see more in Visual Studio, Eclipse, and Xcode.

Please pay more attention to the software developing tool and platform.

What is design?

In brief, design is a process to achieve a goal with constrains. In this process, the designer have to make a lot of choices in front of the alternative schemes at some time or some place. The designer have to make decision from now and then. He or she should know what is the decision and its background when making the decision. There 4 pillars of design for the the HCI: Enthnographic observation, HCI theories and models, algotithms and prototype, as well as controlled experiments.

Seeim model?

Seeim model seperates the application from the UI and shows the 3 components of the UI:lexical, syntax and semantic compent. It not only  lays a good foundation for the development of UIMS but also give us a good way to understand the HCI of next generation. Briefly, it is a bridge for the WIMP and post-WIMP.

?Intelligent user interfaces

Intelligent user interfaces are human-machine interfaces that aim to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and naturalness of human-machine interaction by representing, reasoning, and acting on models of the user, domain, task, discourse, and media (e.g., graphics, natural language, gesture).
