【第一大忌】用随意找来的文章做Sources!

同学们都知道EE写作一定要做好citation,在文中、文末都要列出参考资料。但不是什么文章都”有资格“成为bibliography的一部分,选取质量高的sources是很重要的。那些百度上搜到的作者不详、自己都没有列出参考文献、无法进行cross-check的文章,就千万不要cite了!Google scholar是我们的好朋友,如果学校有给你JSTOR等数据库的library access,就再好不过了!

【第二大忌】无效阅读,不记阅读笔记!

确定好资料,下一步自然就是阅读和做笔记。有些同学非常的勤奋用工,把资料都一页一页认认真真读完了,看完之后两眼一黑,依然无从下笔;或者是看的时候觉得深受启发,看完了就找不到想要cite的东西去了哪里。EE需要的资料多,页数长,如果我们不好好做阅读笔记、进行整理的话,很容易出现”无效阅读“的情况。在阅读过程中,我们应该时刻记住我们的EE主题,集中注意力阅读和rq最相关的章节和内容;将每篇资料的重点、想要cite的内容、页数等关键信息整理记录下来,清晰明了的笔记一方面可以避免反复查看资料浪费时间,一方面帮助我们整理in-text citation和文末的bibliography

【第三大忌】First Draft写得太长!

First draft不需要完美,但也不能糊弄。之后的修改都会基于它,如果随便写一版first draft,后面只能推倒重来,得不偿失。有的同学第一稿一气呵成写个八九千字,似乎很有成就感,但仔细一看全是无谓的堆砌,后面很难修改。结构框架定好后,最好给每个部分都定个大概的字数,一个部分一个部分写,防止first draft写得太长。

【第四大忌】写作风格过于大白话!

EE的写作风格是学术性的、客观公正的、正式的,千万要避免一些特别大白话、口语化的随意表达,也千万不要使用第一人称写作。那么,怎样才能写出严谨优雅的学术语言呢?有几个网站,但不方便阐述,会被吞掉,可以用来学习学术写作的表达,以及查找单词的固定搭配等。
