Windows Live开发团队发布了Microsoft Visual Studio下的Windows Live工具（七月CTP版）。这是一套VS插件，支持开发人员将Windows Live服务嵌入到使用Visual Studio

2008和Visual Web Developer Express 2008开发的Web应用程序中。

该工具包包含如下控件：

Map控件
Contacts控件
IDLoginStatus控件
IDLoginView控件
MessengerChat控件
SilverlightStreamingMediaPlayer控件
在此次发布中，最为重要的一个控件是ASP.NET Virtual Earth 地图控件：

该地图控件为网站的访问者提供了丰富的用户体验，包括Microsoft Virtual Earth地图、航空影像以及鸟瞰图。现在可以免费下载地图控件，获得Microsoft Virtual Earth

的功能。只需要将该控件从Visual Studio工具箱中拖曳到网页上，设置其属性，就可以在你的网站上实现Virtual Earth地图。

此外，为ASP.NET提供的Windows Live Contacts、Messenger与Silverlight控件也非常重要。Windows Live工具可以安装在Visual Studio 2008或者Visual Web Developer

Express Edition下。在Channel 9可以看到ASP.NET Virtual Earth的视频，而MSDN也已经更新了相关的文档。
