Albert Chung’s Short Bio (as of Dec 3, 2021)

Currently, Prof. Albert Chung is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (https://home.cse.ust.hk/~achung/ ). In late Jan 2022, Prof. Chung will be a Chair in Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computer Science, College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Science, University of Exeter. Prof Chung will have an affiliation with The Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDSAI) at Exeter. In addition to having served as program committee members, area chairs, and meeting organizers in numerous conferences and workshops, he was the Co-Chair of IPMI 2019, and now he is serving as a member of the IPMI Conference Board. He was also the Tutorial Chair of ISBI 2019. He is also the editorial board member in Medical Image Analysis Journal and the Journal of Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics.

Research: Medical Image Analysis

Topics of interest include medical image registration and segmentation, population-based disease prediction, detection of anomalies (e.g., tumour or lesion) in medical image analysis, and related computer vision and image processing topics.

Eligibility

• Major: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related fields. Applicants with other related majors are also welcomed to apply.

• Programming skills: Python or C++. It is better if the applicant is familiar with at least one deep learning programming framework.

Financial Support – PhD Scholarship

For the quality applicant, I will support your application to the China Scholarship Council and the University of Exeter Ph.D. Scholarship, in which if successful the University of Exeter will fully fund your tuition fees, and the China Scholarship Council will provide a living allowance including the cost of a return flight from China to the UK, accommodation, and subsistence.
