Module 14 OVOW7.5 Tools

1. Tools can be assosicated with

- Nodes

- Node groups

-Services

2. Tools can execute on

- Selected node

-Node list

-Management server

-Management console

3.  Tools can be included into several folders and if it is edited, all instances will be updated. If you want to delete a tool, you have to remove it from every location.   

It is also mentioned that you must configure tool individually .

It seems they are inconsistance.   This needs to be verified !

4.  Parameter example

a. $OPC_ENV("PATH") 

b. $OPC_NODES:  Return the primary node name

c. $OPC_NODEID: GUID is retruned

d. $OPC_MGMTSV:  the name of the management server

6. VB/Perl//JSCript/WSH:  these types of tools cannot be executed on a console. and the box "Alllow operator to change parameters" appears dimmed.

7. User context when running tools

a. USERNAME/PASSWORD is provided

- Calls normal Windows API "LogonUser"

-Network access

b. Only Usernmae provided:

-Uses switch-user (SU)

-No network access

c. Nothing:

-Windows:

* SU 

* No network access

* Uses console user

-UNIX:

uses opc_op

**about SU: opcauth.dll must be installed and registered

d. $AGENT_USER:  the default agent user  account  for Windows managed nodes.
