Callum Braley aims to follow Mitch Eadie's example at Bristol Rugby
CALLUM Braley is eager to emulate Mitch Eadie next season by forcing his way into the Bristol team off the back of his preseason performances.
Backrower Eadie, 20, pictured, has become a mainstay of the Bristol team this season www.freeshippingcheapjerseys.com/ after taking his chances last summer.
And scrumhalf Braley, 19, who recently helped England to win the Under20 Six Nations Championship, is looking to follow in the footsteps of his academy teammate.
"I'm not sure yet where we are playing in preseason, or what the fixtures are, but hopefully I can play well and do what Mitch Eadie has done this year," said Braley.
"He played well in preseason and has gone on to hold his own in the first team for the whole season. So, for me, it's a case of trying to take those opportunities when I am given them.
"What's good about Bristol is that they will play young players and put faith in them but the players have to show they can do it, so I've got to do the same."
Braley, from Coalpit Heath, is one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from Bristol's academy in years and has been gaining experience in and around the firstteam squad in recent months.
He travelled to both the British Irish Cup game against Ulster Ravens in Belfast and the weekend Championship trip to Jersey, with Bristol winning on both occasions.
And the former Colston's School pupil said: "For me, at the moment, it's all about learning as much as I can it's just nice to be at the club and to be involved with the squad.
"I really feel part of things and that's what's important for me at this stage learning and feeling involved. Hopefully that will make it smoother in terms of taking my chance if an opportunity comes my way.
"At the moment, I'm just trying to train as well as I can. I know the competition here is high, so it's about waiting my time and then hopefully taking that chance if it comes along."
After helping England to deny Wales' Grand Slam hopes and lift the Under20 Six Nations title themselves, Braley is now hoping to earn selection for this summer's World Cup in France.
"I started the season as thirdchoice No 9, but luckily I came through and got to play in the last two games," he said.
"I just enjoyed being involved in the side and especially to deny Wales the Grand Slam in their own country. That Cheap Jerseys was pretty special.
"At the moment, I'm fortunate enough to be able to experience international rugby at this level, so I have tried to take every moment and really cherish it.
"There is still a lot of pressure on selection, though, with the squad for the World Cup still to be announced and I think they will take two 9s, as opposed to the three who are in the squad now."
