RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Takes ownership of complex testing issues of VMWare software. Defines quality assurance requirements and performance benchmarks as necessary.

·         To keep up to date with all the Linux distribution, including their current development cycle: Alpha, Beta, RC, and GM.

·         To execute, create and maintain automation test script to verify VMWare products on all supported Linux platforms on both hosts and guests. This will require configuring custom Linux kernels, building, and install Linux kernels.

·         Works with management to coordinate Quality Assurance schedules, milestones, quality guidelines, and to identify task assignments.  Provides regular updates of progress towards milestones and schedule to manager.

·         Develop and execute step-by-step test plans.

·         Extensive ad hoc testing of new features.

·         Work closely with development team and diagnostic team to understand product requirements, architecture and technology.

·         Submit bug reports, verify fixes.

·         Flexibility to work after hours, weekends as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·         BS/MS in a technical field (preferably computer science).

·         5+ years of Black-Box testing experience including test plan development.

·         Test automation experience using scripting languages (Silk, Eggplant, Ruby, Perl, Python, etc.).

·         Able to configure, build, install, and trouble shoot Linux kernels.

·         Strong general Linux knowledge.

·         Must want to work in and with the open source community.

·         Strong background with the Linux kernel, or Linux distributions.

·         Php and MySQL skills a plus.

·         C programming skills are a big plus.
