a Directed Acyclic(No cycle) Graph(DAG) G whose nodes represent the random variables X1,...Xn

                for each node Xi a CPD (conditional probabilistic distribution) P(Xi|Parg(Xi)) 

The Bayesian network represents a joint distribution via the chain rule for bayesian networks:

              

BN is a legal distribution: 

d-separation statements： X and Y are d-separated in G given Z if there is no active trail in G between X and Y given Z
