  1. intensive
    adj. 加强的;集中的;透彻的;加强语气的
    power-intensive 功耗密集型

  1. decisive
    adj. 决定性的;果断的,坚定的
    可以指事物的性质,也可以指人的品格

    写作中用来替代popular也很不错噢

Smoking is becoming increasingly prevalent among younger women.
吸烟在年轻女性中正变得越来越盛行。

    写作中用来表述“大多数人”,别再用most people啦!
    于此类似的,表述“少数人”可以用:
    A minority of people in our world…

  1. distinct
    adj. 不同的,有区别的,明显的,清楚的
    可以用来替代 different,clear

rural areas, as distinct from major cities. 完全不同于大城市的农村地区
His voice was quiet but every word was distinct. 他说话声音不大,但字字清晰
The results of the survey fell into two distinct groups. 调查结果分为截然不同的两组。


  1. Not infrequently, … 用在写作中,表达某种情况并不是很罕见(注意逻辑上not infrequently ≠ frequently)

  1. decline
    n.(数量、价值、质量等的)减少,下降,衰落,衰退
    v.减少;下降;衰弱;衰退 ;谢绝;婉言拒绝

Industry in Britain has been in decline since the 1970s. 英国工业自20世纪70年代以来一直在走下坡路。
An increase in cars has resulted in the decline of public transport. 汽车的增加导致了公共交通的减少。

用在写作中表示某个事物的趋势在衰退,也很不错。

Support for the party continues to decline. 对该党的支持继续下降。
The number of tourists to the resort declined by 10% last year. 去年到这个胜地旅游的人数减少了10%。
Her health was declining rapidly. 她的健康状况迅速恶化。
