The life cycle of silkworm starts from the eggs laid by matured moth. The silkworm larva grow up from the egg 10 days after the first stage. The mulberry leave, which is the same place as the egg laid by moth, is the food for larva. Four to six weeks after that, the larva starts to build silk thread and it usually takes 3 to 8 days to finish. Then it comes to the stage four, the larva is fully transmitted and shown as the form of cocoon. The month comes out from the cocoon 16 days later, and the mature month will lay the eggs on mulberry leaves, which starts a new life cycle of the silkworm.

During the period when the larva transmitting into the cocoon, the workers select the qualified cocoon as the source to produce silk cloth, which will be put into the water until boiled and then get unwinded. In average, a cocoon can be unwinded from 300 meters to 900 meters thread. After that, the working staffs will twist the processed silk in order to get them strengthened and dye them for the final use. After that, the final production of silk comes out, which can be used to weave clothes.

The first diagram shows that there are four main stages in the life of the silkworm. First of all, eggs are produced by the moth and it takes ten days for each egg to become a silkworm larva that feeds on mulberry leaves. This stage lasts for up to six weeks until the larva produces a cocoon of silk thread around itself. After a period of about three weeks, the adult moths eventually emerge from these cocoons and the life cycle begins again.

The cocoons are the raw material used for the production of silk cloth. Once selected, they are boiled in water and the threads can be separated in the unwinding stage. Each thread is between 300 and 900metres long, which means they can be twisted together, dyed and then used to produce clothe in the weaving stage.

Overall, the diagrams show that the cocoon stage of the silkworm can be used to produce silk cloth through a very simple process.
