Install SopCast Player in Ubuntu 9.10 from Repository

SopCast Player makes use of the P2P(Peer-to-Peer) technology to bring live streaming video and audio to your Ubuntu. Getting it installed on Ubuntu 9.04 was rather tricky: How to Setup P2P Tv with gtk-SopCast on Ubuntu 9.04, but that was then.

Now you can get it up and running in your Ubuntu 9.10 with a smooth install thanks to the SOURCES.LIST website that has re-complied the sopcast-player and sp-auth Deb packages for Ubuntu 9.10, resolving all dependencies.SOURCES.LIST also created a repository for SopCast Player; drop in your terminal

echo "deb http://www.sourceslist.eu/repository/karmic/ binary/" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list

and install SopCast Player with sudo apt-get install sopcast-player sp-auth – run with sopcast-player or get it at Applications -> Sound & Video -> SopCast Player

SopCast Player uses VLC media player and Mplayer to project videos – it depends on what you configured in Edit -> Preferences -> Media Player.

Download sopcast-player and sp-auth for Ubuntu 9.10 at SOURCES.LIST
