1. In this work, we aim to provide a deeper understanding of the densely connected network, from the lens of Higher Order RNN, and explain how the residual networks are in indeed a special case of densely connected network. Based on these analysis, we then propose a novel Dual Path Network architecture that not only achieves higher accuracy, but also enjoys high parameter and computational efficiency.
