今天给全能班的孩子们上课，看到了范文中not only, but also的句型进行层间过渡。根据以往作文老师受到的伤害，我猜大家并不十分了解not only放句首的正确用法，简单询问了一下，发现果不其然。但是根据我多年的经验判断，没有什么能阻止孩子们使用not only放句首的倒装，因为他们觉得此用法贼炫，写这个句子的时候感觉虎虎生风。所以今天在这里对此句型做个总结，希望你们都能体会一个写作老师的良苦用心。

首先，到底什么时候用not only...but also？

这个句型是对某一个人或者事物进行两次具有递进关系的描述，但如果两次描述的谓语形式不同，也就是一个分句里用“be+表语”构成一个性质／状态的描述，另一个分句里用行为动词构成一个动作或行为的描述，这时候就必须使用倒装结构。原因是两个句子中的谓语形式不同的情况下，我们就应该看做是对两个分句进行递进连接。

关于写法：

not only和but also分别置于两个分句句首，第一个分句引起部分倒装，后边的分句不用倒装，不用倒装，不用倒装。重要的事情说三遍。例如说个句子：

她不仅仅多思善虑，而且总是舍己为人。有勇气的先自己写一下试试。

有没有人是这么写的呢：She is not only thoughtful, but sacrifices her own interests for those of others. 这是一个阵亡的写法。前半个分句是is 表状态，后半句是sacrefice表行为。刚说了动词性质不一样，就倒装。

注意，not only后边的句子倒装，写成疑问句的句式：

not only+助动词+主语+动词原形

not only+be动词+主语

应该写成：Not only is she thoughtful, but she sacrifices her own interests for those of others. (正)

状况讲述：

but之后的句子大家一般都觉得没啥问题，但往往人就容易在小河沟里翻船。

翻船状况1：Not only放句首整句递进的时候，不能省掉后半句的主语，因为这样损害了句子的平衡性。

翻船状况2：also这词还在捣乱，also不是你想加，想加就能加。

前后的句子主语谓语一样，用also，

Not only did she lose her money, she also lost her passport. (谓语都是行为动词)。

Not only do chimps use tools, they also make them.(谓语都是行为动词）

前后不一样的，就不用also了。

Not only was any new item incredibly costly to launch, but most new products failed. 主语谓语不一样：前半语主语any new item，谓语was；后半句主语most new products，谓语failed

翻船状况3：前后一样可以用also的可不可以写成but also呢？可以俩词一起用，但是！but also 不可以两个单词一起放在第二分句的句首，先于主语。它们得分开！but放主语之前，also在主语和谓语中间 Not only did he give me some useful advice, but also helped me financially. 错！

改成Not only did he give me some useful advice, but he also helped me financially.
