I am a millennial, so I’ll never be able to afford a house. I’ll be renting until the end of time, and, after the apocalypse happens, my landlord will try and claim damages, and I’ll claim it’s general wear and tear. “Yeah I know a meteor crashed into my kitchen, but that’s just life, you know? Fair wear and tear.” In light of this, here’s an ACNH house tour — because I’ll never be able to welcome MTV into my own, real-life crib.

(My house)

It’s cute, it’s functional, it looks a little silly. The picket fence is adorable. It’s got a purple roof — it used to have a pink one, but then I got bored. I’ve got a little garden gnome friend who is almost as tall as me. I’m close to the beach and the town hall, but pretty far away from anything else. As you can see in the map, on the bottom right-hand side of the picture, I deliberately planned my house away from any other Sloth Isle residents to have some nice quiet alone time, but I stupidly placed a swing right next to my house, and now they all sit there swinging away to their hearts’ content. They then jump off the swing, annoy me and chase after me in the mornings when I’m just trying to collect some Nook Miles (how many Nook Miles do I need to collect until I can chuck Tom Nook off the island?! I really hate him).

Hey MTV, come on in!

(Living room)

This is where I get stuff done. Look at the cute garms I’m sporting. The furniture is pink, the walls are papered with a chic print, there’s a little panda teddy bear in the corner…what’s not to love?

I have a cute pink pinafore outfit next to my wardrobe. The wardrobe function is really good — it means you can just get changed without having to take the items you want to wear out of your storage, put them on, and put the old ones back in your storage. Also, I like the strange poses your character pulls as she gets ready. It’s quite weird.

(Bedroom)

This is my bedroom, it’s full of really cute stuff. The four-poster bed is lovely. Look at how cute everything is! Okay, maybe not the doll, the doll is slightly creepy. There’s a cute toy-box in the corner. Another little panda bear. I can switch up my look with the vanity mirror. I always go between having my hair down in a shapeless mop (very real-me) and having it in a low ponytail. I’m a very vanilla person.

One question I have about the vanity mirror: why don’t I have a reflection? Am I a vampire? Do I not have a soul? Asking for a friend. This is one of my most pressing questions about this series. In the very unlikely event any ACNH creators are reading, please explain. Also, I would like to know why I am the only human being, and everyone else is an animal. I mean, can I be a dog? Please.

Having just realized I am a vampire, I jump out of bed and unfortunately step directly into the sunlight streaming through my window, whereby I spontaneously burst into flames.

(Writing room)

Wow, you say, that’s a giant teddy bear. Yes, it is. In my first year of university I spent a chunk of my student loan on a five-foot teddy bear…I had the four-foot version, first, but I decided it wasn’t big enough. I like to consider the purchase an investment, because I’ve still got it, and it was great to come home from a lecture and snuggle up in its arms. However, my dad wasn’t too impressed. Here I have an assortment of baby bears, mama bears, and the giant tartan-clad bear, a homage to my real-life bear collection.

MTV, welcome to my writing room…

I’ve also got those little medals from the Stamp Rally that the museum hosted a while back (was a bit boring, 10/10 would not recommend) displayed on my walls. All of the furniture is, again, a cute pink. There’s a plant friend. The bedspread has cute little animal footprints on it (also our Sloth Isle flag print), and I have a little table with a coffee and a book on it, which is basically what I have in my real life rented apartment; I’ve converted our second bedroom into a writing room, where I sit and write silly articles like this for fun.

The writing room is also at the side of the apartment, where I can catch a glimpse of doggos walking past outside. We’re on the ground floor, and the pavement outside is at an incline, so we’re too low to see the faces of most people walking by (just their legs). However, I can see most of the dogs, and sometimes I play a fun game if it’s a big dog, where I try to guess the breed based on its floofy legs. It’s pure joy (10/10 would recommend). I like to pretend I also do that on Sloth Isle.

That concludes my house tour…bye MTV!
