how to build svn server for code management

Use visualsvn for  the svn server in windows7.

1,download visualsvn resource

Download url:

 http://www.visualsvn.com/visualsvn/download/

2,create a repository

Right click “Repositories” -> “create new repository”  type your repository name and select “create default structure(trunk,branches,tags)”

 

3,set access permissions

Defalutly everyone has the permission of read and write. This is unseemiliness. Ok,just change it.

Right click “Repositories” -> “properties” , select  “everyone” in the security dialog item “group or user name”, and change the permission of “everyone” from “Read/Write” to “No Access”.After that, just click the button “ok”.

 

4,add users for visualsvn

Right click “Users” -> “create new user” ,then type your user name and password.

 

5,make user be able to access svn

Like step 3, if you want all repositories have the same setting, you would right click “Repositories” to add some users to the repositories and set their permissions. Otherwise if you just want to set some repository’s users and permissions,you can right click the repository you want to set,and add users and set permissions for it.

 

6,checkout the repository you added

Before you do this, you would setup the svn client TortoiseSvn first.

Tortoisesvn download url:

 http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads.html

click the exe file of tortoisesvn and setup setp by step.

Open the folder where you want to checkout the repository, right click and select “checkout”, type a url of the checkout repository and set the checkout directory then click “ok”.
